Sam Smith - Love Me More

Sam Smith learns how to love himself in his new song "Love Me More".

"Love Me More" is an honest introspection of Sam Smith's relationship with himself but also a journey of self-knowledge and happiness. Once again, his incomparable voice stands out in this inspiring new song.

Sam Smith, who has declared himself a non-binary and uses the pronouns "they", reunited to create "Love Me More" with longtime collaborators Jimmy Napes and Stargate.

"I wrote this song for anyone who feels different, for someone who has to stop saying bad things about him every day, in his mind, all the time," Sam Smith said in a statement.

"I felt that way for a long time and I am slowly learning how to be just polite to myself. I wanted to share this because I captured it in this song. In the last two years, music has become my treatment more than ever. "So I hope this song becomes your friend," he added.

The music video for "Love Me More", shot by Luke Monaghan ("Too Good At Goodbyes", "Writing's On The Wall") and co-directed by Sam Smith, is a story of liberation and joy, set in in the heart of London.

"Love Me More" begins with excerpts from Samm Smith's childhood and the beginning of his career, before paying tribute to "Stay With Me", as we see the singer go down some stairs, as he did in the video for successful song of 2014.

Then, the melancholy piece turns into a hymn of autonomy.

"Have you ever felt that you are someone else / Do you feel that the mirror is not good for your health / Every day I try not to hate myself / But lately it does not hurt like before / Maybe I am learning how to love me more", sings the Sam Smith.

"Love Me More", which is available on digital platforms from Capitol Records / Universal Music, is Sam Smith's first official single since his third full-length album, "Love Goes", released in October 2020.
