After the viral success of his participation in the remix of the song "Essence" by WizKid, Justin Bieber continues his journey in the world of Afrobeats, as he collaborates with the rising African artist Omah Lay in the new single "Attention".
The "Attention" video, directed by Colin Tilley, follows Justin Bieber and Omah Lay having fun around a fire, emphasizing the sensual rhythm and lyrics of the atmospheric track.
"I need a little freedom, freedom / Show me a little attention", the two artists sing in the chorus.
This is not the first time Justin Bieber and Omah Lay have joined forces, as the Nigerian singer joined Alpha P last year in the Masterkraft remix of the pop star's hit "Peaches".
"Attention" is a foretaste of Omah Lay's first full-length album, which will be titled "Boy Alone" and will be released this spring.
The collaboration with Justin Bieber also follows for Omah Lay the singles of "Free My Mind" and "Understand", which were released last year. In 2020 he collaborated with 6lack on "Damn".
Last year, Omah Lay spoke to Complex UK about the importance of living in Lagos and Nigeria's influence on popular music, which is reaching new heights.
"Lagos gave me access to the opportunities I needed to start my career. "It is an important city in this respect, because it brings you closer to experiences that can shape your relationships and your sound," he said.
Featuring a wide range of contemporary sounds produced by producers in West Africa, Afrobeats music has gained significant popularity with its unique mix of R&B, reggae, hip-hop and dance elements.
