The Weeknd will star in "The Simpsons"

The Weeknd's dream of joining the Simpsons will come true.
A long time ago, The Weeknd had confessed to "Variety" his desire to join the "Simpsons".

"It would be a dream - and if they (the creators of the series) read it, I basically have a very good idea if they agree," he said.

It seems that the creators of the cartoon series have read his statements.

Almost two years after this interview, The Weeknd announced that his dream of joining the yellow world of "The Simpsons" is coming true.

The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, revealed via Twitter that he will lend his voice to a character named Orion Hughes in the episode for the 33rd season of "The Simpsons" which will be shown on March 20.

"Very proud of it," he wrote in his post, reposting a tweet with the news and adding the appropriate emoji with a yellow heart.

No details have been released about his character so far, but he said in an interview with "Variety" in 2020 that he hopes that each of his roles as an actor will bring out new versions of his personality in real life.

"I want to keep creating different Weeknds in alternative universes," he told the magazine at the time.

This will not be the first time The Weeknd has appeared in an animated comedy series.

The 32-year-old artist had previously given his voice to characters in "Robot Chicken" and appeared as a guest star on "American Dad", in an episode where he presented a humorous original song entitled "I'm A Virgin".

Meanwhile, last year it was announced that the music star will star in a new TV series entitled "The Idol", which is his own creation.

The Weeknd will co-produce the series with "Euphoria" creator Sam Levinson. Abel co-stars in "The Idol", which will be shown on HBO, will be Lily-Rose Depp.
