Chris Martin describes the Coldplay collaboration with BTS as a "pleasure"

Chris Martin talked about Coldplay collaborating with BTS on the new song "My Universe".

The two bands co-wrote the song, which features lyrics in both English and Korean and is the second official single from Coldplay's upcoming album "Music Of The Spheres".

Chris Martin said in an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1 that working with the K-pop band was a "pleasure".

"I love them and we love them and it was a great pleasure. "It's something you could see so cynically and we've done it from time to time, but every time there is real communication or music between us, it's such a nice feeling," he told BTS.

"So, I feel obviously and shamelessly really grateful for the song, grateful for the person who inspired the song and grateful for the people we sing with," he continued.

In the same interview, Chris Martin described the birth of "My Universe", saying that the love song "came from a text" with similar content.

"I had in my mind for a while that someone had said that the BTS were asking if we were going to do a song for them or something. "And when I saw the word 'My Universe' in this text I said 'this is a nice title for a song,'" he explained.

"So, I occasionally ask the producers we work with if they have any leftover loops that they do not know what to do with and that is how our pop songs often come about," he continued.

"Anyway, I went to Bill Rahko, who we work with a lot, and I said, 'Do you ever make pieces?' And he had created this loop, a track with a few vocals. And I said, "Please, can I have it?" "I'm not good at driving, but I drove around and then the refrain of 'My Universe' came to me," he revealed.

So I went straight to the studio and said, 'Okay, let's put it down now.' All this happened on the same day. "Then I started singing the chorus and it looked nice," he said.

Chris Martin then realized that this song was the right fit for Coldplay's collaboration with BTS.

So then I called Phil, our fifth member, and Max Martin and said, 'I think we have a song to give to the BTS.' And they said, "Why don't we keep it and give it to the BTS." "And then we started communicating with the BTS and then we went to Korea," he said.
