Southside is the producer behind some of the most influential rap releases of the last decade.
Grammy-nominated producer and multi-platinum artist Southside from Atlanta recruits rap superstars Future and Travis Scott in the electrified single "Hold That Heat".
The song begins with the typical Southside sirens, before the 808s and trap hi-hats take over.
Travis Scott and Future take on the chorus together, on a beat that is complex enough to stand on its own, but also leaves room for the MCs to show off their verbal power.
The stylish and dark music video for "Hold That Heat", directed by Philp Andelman, is worthy of the three beasts of hip-hop.
It is a version of traditional rap videos as presented by David Lynch and includes glittering chains, lightly dressed ladies and incessant hashish smoke. There is also an alligator, dimly lit motel rooms, claustrophobic corridors and visually stunning laser beams that accentuate the gray glamor.
With collaborations with names ranging from Moneybagg Yo, Drake and 21 Savage to Pusha T and Young Thug, Southside is one of the most sought after producers in the rap scene.
After a short break, "Hold That Heat" is a reminder that Southside can flex harder than anyone else in the production game
Southside's work is behind some of the most influential albums, mixtapes and singles of the last decade. The Atlanta multi-platinum producer and founder and CEO of 808 MAFIA has received 45 platinum accolades, generated billions of streams and received widespread critical acclaim.
Among the hundreds of songs, his discography includes his appearances on Future's "56 Nights", "DS2", "Future" and "The Wizrd", Drake and Future's mega collaboration "What A Time To Be Alive", "Life of Pablo" by Kanye West, "Issa Album" by 21 Savage, "Father of 4" by Offset, "2 Heartless" by Moneybagg Yo and many more.
His most recent project was a full-length collaboration with Cleveland rapper Doe Boy entitled "Demons R Us", while Southside also teamed up with G Herbo on "Swervo".
