Shania Twain has revealed how she became friends with Harry Styles.
Shania Twain has looked back on her surprise duet with Harry Styles at the 'Coachella' music festival and said it was 'one of the highlights of her career'.
The Canadian country pop star was Harry Styles' guest at the first of two 'Coachella' appearances last April and sang her hits 'Man! I Feel Like A Woman!” and "You're Still The One."
Shania Twain has now appeared on Stephen Colbert's 'The Late Show' where she revealed that her encounter with Harry Styles on stage at 'Coachella' was a result of the friendship they formed after meeting backstage at one of his first solo concerts former member of One Direction.
"He was giving a concert in New York. He was really on the rise when I first met him,” she said, describing the British singer as “sweet”.
According to Shania Twain, Harry Styles told her that he was a long-time fan of hers, having been introduced to her music by his mother.
"My mother was a big influence on me because I grew up with your music," he confessed to her then asked her if she could do him a favor and call his mother on her birthday.
Shania Tawin agreed and thus a friendship was formed between the two singers.
"I called her and wished her a happy birthday. Since then we stayed in touch and then he invited me to his appearance at Coachella. We're very comfortable together, it's like we've known each other for a long time," he explained
Shania Twain, who will release her new album 'Queen of Me' on February 3, also commented on being an inspiration to some of today's top artists including Taylor Swift, Post Malone and, of course, Styles.
"He's one of those kids who belong to the generation that 25-30 years ago was 4, 5, 6 years old in the audience," he said.
"Now it's this full-circle moment where they're old enough to speak for themselves and they can come see me without their parents and express their admiration for my music and thank me for the inspiration," he continued.
"It's very rewarding for me to still be doing this and to hear their gratitude firsthand," Shania Twain said.
