Sam Smith and Kim Petras collaborate on new single 'Unholy'

Sam Smith joins forces with Kim Petras to unleash an unrelenting assault on all the senses with 'Unholy'.

To create this irresistible new single, Sam Smith collaborated with an unparalleled team of superstar producers, consisting of ILYA (Max Martin, Ariana Grande, Jennifer Lopez), Blake Slatkin (Lizzo, 24KGoldn), Cirkut (Nikki Minaj, The Weeknd ), Omer Fendi (Lil Nas X, The Kid Laroi) and his longtime collaborator Jimmy Napes.

Recorded in Jamaica, 'Unholy' is the unrestrained lead single from Sam Smith's hot fourth album.

Described by Sam Smith as his most daring release yet, the song takes aim at an unfaithful husband who leaves his wife and children at home to party alone and is inspired by the infamous stip club ' The Body Shop' on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles.

Sam Smith said: “Unholy was created in Jamaica and was one of the most glorious creative moments I've ever had as an artist. I've never had so much fun making a song. It was so cathartic and liberating to experiment like that and forget the rules.”

“It was also an honor to work with Kim Petras and witness her intelligence. This song is about freeing ourselves from the clutches of other people's secrets…” he added.

Kim Petras said of the collaboration: “I'm a huge fan of Sam. It's nice to meet another artist who is a really good lyricist and has his own vision. I had the best moments in the studio with him."

“He really believed in me and encouraged me to be completely myself. I feel very honored that he chose me to participate in this song," he added.

Audiences have already loved 'Unholy' mainly through TikTok, where Sam Smith and Kim Petras began laying the groundwork for the single last month, with its audio already used in over 300,000 videos on the app.
