Earlier this week, Beyoncé released "Break My Soul", the first single from her upcoming seventh solo album "Renaissance".
The dynamic dance track uses samples from Robin S.'s "Show Me Love" hit, released in 1993, and the favorite house music artist appeared on ITV's "Good Morning Britain" show on Wednesday to express her gratitude to Beyoncé.
"Here is Robin S, and this message is addressed to Queen Bey herself, to Beyoncé, to Jay-Z, to the whole team," she said in an interview.
"Thank you very much for showing me your appreciation while I am still alive. "It is my honor and I am excited to see what else can happen."
Robin S. that she learned about the use of her song in Beyoncé's new single through her son, who informed her that "Show Me Love" was used as a sample in "Break My Soul".
"My son called me and said, 'Mom, mom. You are a trend everywhere. "You know, Beyoncé released her song and it's 'Show Me Love' and you are everywhere in the trends," he said on the show.
Robin S. also revealed that there was no formal contact between her and Beyoncé before the song was released.
However, he stressed that "it does not need to be confirmed" that "Break My Soul" is based on "Show Me Love" because "a singer knows her songs".
Robin S. also said on the show that she hopes to work with Beyoncé in the future, as "this is always a dream" and closed the discussion without being able to find any other words: "I can not even. Just wow. A big thank you".
The 60-year-old singer also sent her thanks to the group of artists and creators who participated in "Break My Soul", including Jay-Z, Adam Pigott (a.k.a BlaqNmilD) and Big Freedia.
