DJ and producer Regard joins forces with Years & Years in the dance anthem "Hallucination".
After the album "Night Call", which immediately won the No. 1 of the British charts, Years & Years meet Regard in "Hallucination", a rhythmic banger that refers to the rekindling of an old love.
With a synth-pop sound from the '80s, "Hallucination" acquires a unique substance from the special interpretation of the Years & Years singer, Olly Alexander, as he sings: "Do not try to impress me / I know you intend to hurt me again / You look like a vision / But now I start to see through the fog ".
Olly Alexander explains about the new single: "I wrote" Hallucination "with Joel Little in 2019. I was inspired by a personal story, when an ex-love wanted to return to my life. "A part of me wanted him back, but a lot had changed and I felt confused."
"When I looked at the whole situation from a different perspective, everything seemed like a lie, a big illusion. "You know, when you experience all the emotions and you wonder if there was anything in the end," he admits.
"It made me write this song and I do not think it is a song against love, but more an expression of my feelings. I know a lot of people have burned out of relationships and they will understand me. I did not know which artist this piece would end up with, but when I learned that Regard wanted to take it on, I was very happy! "I love all the sexy elements he has added to the song," he continues.
Regard adds: "I really enjoyed working with Years & Years on this new single. Olly's voice brings the song to life and expresses the very idea that the beauty of love is perfectly connected with the fear of an illusion ".
"Hallucination", Regard's first single for 2022, is another example of the many different things a BRIT Award-nominated producer can accomplish as he experiments with '80s disco and synth-pop.
The record meeting with Years & Years adds another impressive collaboration to his assets after the collaborations with RAYE, Troye Sivan, Tate McRae and more recently with Kwabs in "Signals", the singer's first single since 2015.
"Hallucination" is the product of the collaboration of two artists who are at their best, a typical example of how to create the perfect pop banger that no one can ignore.
