Ed Sheeran's collaboration with Cradle of Filth is a fact.
Metal band frontman Dani Filth revealed last year that he had discussed a duet with Ed Sheeran via email - surprise surprise.
In a new interview on Slipknot's Knotfest website, he stated that they had started working on a song, but plans were put on hold due to Ed Sheeran's tour and personal commitments. Nevertheless, he emphasized that their cooperation will take place.
"He's done some work," Dani Filth said. "But then he had a baby and then he fell out of tune and did what Ed does, which is play huge concerts all over the world," he continued.
"It is not at our disposal. But he's going to finish it, he assures me. In fact, I spoke to him quite recently. Yes, so it will happen,” he commented.
The Cradle of Filth singer noted that there is no rush to release their collaboration. “It will be released when it is completed. We don't know when it will be released," he said.
The groundwork for a collaboration between Cradle of Filth and Ed Sheeran was laid last year, when the British pop star revealed that he is a big fan of metal music, adding that he loved bands like Cradle of Filth and Slipknot when he was growing up.
Ed Sheeran added that he "wouldn't mind" recording a metal album.
After Dani Filth wrote in an Instagram post that "I'll believe it when I see it," he got in touch with Ed Sheeran and they began discussing the possibility of a collaboration.
The Cradle of Filth frontman admitted he likes the idea of working with an artist who represents such a different style of music: "The clash of interests, the marriage of extremes, I think, is interesting in itself," he said.
Dani Filth revealed last year that one idea he was discussing with Ed Sheeran was to release a song for charity.
“We actually communicate by e-mail… He actually contacted me. He invited me to his house. Well, he said he could come to mine, but I told him I don't have my own bar or village and it would be better if I went there myself," she said.
“He said he would do anything. Literally. He said he's a big fan. He seems like a really nice person,” she continued.
“I think working with Ed Sheeran would be a lot of fun. I think it would be great if we did it for charity, because at least it would bring some credibility to it," he explained.
"Because obviously his audience would be like, 'Oh my God, he's got this weird comedic type', and my audience would be like, 'Oh my God, it's a bit weird, isn't it?' But I think this thing is catching on in our day," added Dani Filth.
Ed Sheeran dived into the world of rock earlier this year by releasing a hard rock version of the hit 'Bad Habits' featuring Bring Me The Horizon. The singer and band showcased their collaboration on stage at the 2022 BRIT Awards, while on August 27, Ed Sheeran appeared as a guest for Bring Me The Horizon at Reading Festival in England.
