Marshmello will appear in the Champions League final

Marshemllo is preparing a "virtual spectacle" for the opening ceremony of the Champions League final.
Marshmello will be the artist to lead this year's UEFA Champions League final.

Chelsea and Manchester City will face each other in the final of the top club competition to be held at the Estádio do Dragão in Porto, Portugal on Saturday 29 May.

The opening ceremony of the final will include a performance by Marshmello, with the American DJ and music producer promising "a virtual six-minute spectacle that will use the latest technology in virtual reality".

"It really was a year like no other," Marshmello said.

"I look forward to giving their fans of sport, music and pure entertainment a look they have never seen before. "Thanks to Pepsi and UEFA, this is exactly what I am going to give the world - a look that everyone can enjoy."

UEFA and Pepsi have released a new trailer featuring both Marshmello and famous footballers Jadon Sancho, Lionel Messi and Paul Pogba.

"While there may be fewer people in the stadium this year, there will be no less energy and excitement," said Natalia Filippociants, vice president of marketing at PepsiCo's Global Beverages division.

"Marshmello is the perfect artist to start this year's UEFA Champions League final with great joy and a program full of festive anthems of different genres, appealing to the football and music audience worldwide. "Fans will have to wait for more exciting announcements, including some special guests, so stay tuned."

The UEFA Champions League final is expected to be watched by 12 thousand fans, out of 6,000 for each finalist, while 2,000 will be the guests (UEFA, sponsors, partners, media, federation presidents).
