Katy Perry Talks 15 Years Since Her First Album 'One Of The Boys'

Katy Perry celebrates 15 years of pop perfection.

Katy Perry's list of hits starts with her first pop album 'One Of The Boys' in 2008.

This year, the album turns 15 years old. Some of the most successful songs from that time include 'I Kissed A Girl', 'Hot n' Cold', 'Waking Up in Vegas', 'Ur So Gay', 'Thinking of You' and 'Lost'.

"I can't believe these kids still love it!" Katy Perry told Out magazine on the album's anniversary.

"It's crazy that it's been 15 years. I know you can't understand it, but I thank my doctors," he added.

'One Of The Boys' has a special place in Katy Perry's heart as it marked a huge turning point in her career. After initially starting her career as Katy Hudson, she made a major shift by changing her name to Katy Perry and moving from gospel music to mainstream pop.

“I am so grateful. None of this was taken for granted. It was a pretty incredible ride with so many peaks and some dips. I've evolved so much since I was able to release my first record," he said.

"I come from a fairly sheltered, somewhat narrow-minded background and family," he continued.

“My music and its success has allowed me to travel the world and meet so many different people. That really helped me grow and have such a broader perspective than what I grew up with," he said.

“Without a doubt, I've always been a bit of the black sheep. Through my music, I was able to really learn and educate myself,” he added.

Katy Perry is not only celebrating the 15 year anniversary of 'One Of The Boys', but also 10 years since the release of her hugely successful album 'Prism'.

Her fans are still blasting 'Roar', 'Dark Horse', 'Walking On Air', 'Birthday', 'Unconditionally' and so many other songs to this day.

"I'm so glad I survived all of this. It was so intense, but I was able to cultivate my authentic self and present my authentic self in my art the way I wanted to,” she said.

“The theme that really stands out is love, empowerment, joy and finding that inner strength. I see these songs and this message impacting people's lives and how they adopt it for themselves,” he continued.

“It makes me really proud that my higher self stepped in and helped me write these songs to help my down self. You get songs like 'Roar' and 'Firework' and I'm so thankful that my higher self is stronger," Katy Perry said.
