Jennifer Lopez felt "uncomfortable" playing in the movie "Marry Me" a character with whom she could identify so much.
The 52-year-old star plays the famous singer Kat Valdez, who learns that her fiancé Bastian (Maluma) cheated on her shortly before they got married and decides to make a daring move and marry a complete stranger.
Jennifer Lopez, who has been married three times and is now in a relationship with Ben Affleck, reveals that she opened "her soul" in this film.
The singer noted in the British magazine "OK!" about the character he plays in "Marry Me": "She is strong and confident, she is a businessman and a boss - but she is also an ordinary person. She is an ordinary girl who feels lonely and who needs love and who wants to feel that she has a home "
"There was so much I could really understand," he continued.
"I had to open my soul. "It was actually a little more awkward than playing a character who doesn't look like you at all, because that meant putting my real personal experiences into a role in a way I had never tried before."
Maluma made his film debut in "Marry Me" as Kat Valdez's fiancé, Latino star Bastian, and Jennifer Lopez believes the Colombian singer was a "natural talent."
"Working with Maluma was very enjoyable, it was a lot of fun. "This was his first film and his first time playing a role," he said.
"I remember when I did the first scene with him, I went to the director (Kat Coiro) and said, 'He's natural talent, that's good.' "He was not weird or embarrassed, it's not like he's been studying acting all his life or something, he was just himself."
"We were really lucky because he was a born actor and he really understood what his role was and we had a great time," he added.
However, Maluma was reportedly annoyed by the comparison of the role he played with his real character.
"It's his gift. "We needed someone who could really convince us that he was a superstar, an artist, that he was comfortable on stage, that the girls would go crazy for him and that he would be convinced that he would cheat," Jennifer Lopez explained.
"She hates it! He said: "I am not this man, I am not this, I am not Bastian". "I told him, 'I know, I know,'" he said.
