Sixteen names are included in this year's list of candidates for the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.
The list of artists and bands that are candidates to enter the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in the order of 2021 has been published.
This year's list includes singers, rock bands, R&B idols and others, including Foo Fighters, Mary J. Blige, LL Cool J, Rage Against The Machine, Iron Maiden and JAY-Z.
The list also includes Todd Rundgren, Fela Kuti, Kate Bush, Devo, Chaka Khan, New York Dolls, The Go-Go’s, Dionne Warwick, Tina Turner and Carole King.
Tina Turner first entered the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in 1991 as a member of the band Ike & Tina Turner in 1991. Carole King, who is on the list for her career as a performer, had previously joined the Hall of Fame as singer for her work for other artists, such as "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" by Aretha Franklin and "Will You Love Me Tomorrow" by Shirelles.
Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl has been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in the past as a member of Nirvana.
"It simply came to our notice then. It sounds like a diplomatic response, but it's just the response, "said Foo Fighters bassist Nate Mendel, referring to the band's nomination for the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame on Howard Stern radio show on SiriusXM.
Seven of this year's nominees have been nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in the past.
To be eligible for nomination, an individual artist or band must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years before the year of nomination.
Candidates are selected by an electorate of more than 1,000 international members, including artists, historians and members of the music industry.
"This remarkable list of nominations reflects the diversity and depth of artists and music that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame honors," says John Sykes, president of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation.
"These candidates have left an indelible impact on the sound landscape of the world and have influenced countless artists who have followed them," he added.
The public can vote until April 30 on the five artists who will be included in a special list of nominations. The top five artists will compose a "fan ballot", which will be included in the lists for the selection of entrants to the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in 2021.
The final results will be announced in May and the entry ceremony at the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame will take place in the fall of 2021.
