Grammy 2023: Adele broke down in tears and dedicated her award to her son


Adele dedicated her win to her son Angelo.

Adele paid tribute to her son during her emotional speech at the 2023 Grammy Awards when she won the award for Best Pop Solo Performance with 'Easy on Me'.

Dwayne Johnson presented the award, which is given for "excellence in an individual performance."

After revealing that Adele had won, Dwayne Johnson said: "Come up here, new best friend" – a reference to the fact that host Trevor Noah started the awards ceremony by pointing out that Adele was dying to meet the former wrestler and now actor .

Adele gaped from her seat to accept her award, hugging her partner Rich Paul and her colleague and friend Lizzo, while Harry Styles and the rest of the performers stood to give the British singer a standing ovation.

When she took the stage, Adele received a big hug and a kiss on the cheek from 'The Rock' before taking the microphone to thank her fans and family.

"I was really looking forward to coming here tonight," she said, tearing up and stuttering a bit during the emotional moment.

"I just want to dedicate this to my son, Angelo," she continued, referring to her partner's advice: "If you win something, don't cry."

"I'm crying here," added Adele, who revealed she started writing "Easy On Me" when she made the difficult decision to get a divorce.

“I wrote this first couplet in the shower when I was choosing to change my son's life. He's been nothing but humble and kind and loving to me the whole time,” he told the crowd in attendance at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

Coming into the 2023 Grammy Awards, Adele had already won 15 awards, including Album of the Year for '25' and '21'. She has also received a total of 25 Grammy nominations during her career.

Adele has been nominated for seven awards at the 2023 British Grammys.

In particular, she had four nominations with her single "Easy On Me", which is nominated for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Music Video.

Also, her album '30', which included 'Easy On Me', was nominated for Album of the Year and Best Pop Album.

Adele was additionally nominated for Best Music Video with "Adele: One Night Only," while her collaborator Tobias Jesso Jr. won Songwriter of the Year (Non-Classical) in part for his work on her songs 'Can I Get It' and 'To Be Loved'.
