Duran Duran have announced that their documentary 'A Hollywood High' will premiere exclusively on Paramount+ this month, with a DVD and Blu-ray release to follow in early August.
The documentary celebrates Duran Duran's four-decade career and the band's love affair with Los Angeles.
'A Hollywood High' features new interviews with the band members and Duran Duran's thrilling concert in March 2022 on the roof of a Hollywood building, with the iconic Capitol Records tower in the background, which was the first record roof of the band.
The film will premiere exclusively on Paramount+ on June 21st and will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on August 4th by Lastman Media and Cherry Red Records.
The DVD and Blu-ray editions will include 20 minutes of exclusive extras, including unreleased footage from the documentary, an extra song from the concert and footage from a Q&A held by Duran Durant in Los Angeles as part of the film's original theatrical release .
Additional limited edition packages will be available which will include recordings from the concert on flexi-disc test pressings, which will be housed in specially designed inserts, as well as numbered signed items from the band.
In the UK, 'A Hollywood High' will be screened for one night only at HERE at Outernet in London on August 3rd, one day before the official DVD and Blu-ray release.
The film will be screened in full before an exclusive DJ set by Roger Taylor, where fans will be treated to a carefully curated selection of dance-floor anthems, deep cuts and new discoveries.
Drummer Roger Taylor said of the event: “I'm really looking forward to DJing at Outernet in London on August 3rd. I hope to take everyone on a unique musical journey after this special screening of our film 'A Hollywood High.''
The DVD and Blu-ray editions (NTSC/ABC region free) tell the story of Duran Duran's deep relationship with Los Angeles through exclusive interviews, as well as behind-the-scenes footage and previously unknown archival footage, charting their rise to one of the most successful and influential bands of all time.
Directed by three award-winning industry professionals, Gavin Elder, Vincent Adam Paul and George Scott, 'A Hollywood High' is set for a worldwide theatrical release in November 2022.
Keyboardist Nick Rhodes said: "This was our first US gig in a number of years, so we wanted to do something really special and personal."
“After considering several options, the rooftop concert quickly became the preferred choice. It was after the pandemic, we had never done anything like this before and we had just released our new album “Future Past”. In a way it was like a magical door to the next part of our journey," he explained.
Bassist John Taylor added: “Duran Duran has had an ongoing relationship with the city of Los Angeles since we first came to America. We were determined to do something unique to celebrate our four decades together."
"The idea of a concert on a rooftop in Los Angeles with the Capitol Records building across the street and the Hollywood sign looming in the background sounded perfect and it turned out to be a great night for all of us," he continued.
'A Hollywood High' follows a string of major achievements for Duran Duran.
Their induction into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in 2022 was a career highlight after headlining London's Hyde Park, performing at the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Concert at Buckingham Palace, closing the opening ceremony of Commonwealth Games in their hometown of Birmingham and a tour across North America which included sold out shows at New York's Madison Square Garden and three nights at the Hollywood Bowl.
Duran Duran also led the time change celebrations in New York's Times Square and on New Year's Eve counted down the arrival of 2023 in front of a live audience of over 1 million people on the streets of New York.
All this after the huge success of their latest album 'Future Past', which saw Duran Duran at their best, as noted by critics and fans, four decades after the start of their prolific career.
