"She's free to make up her own mind again and she'll do it at her own pace."
Music is still Britney Spears' "pride and joy," but the 41-year-old singer won't be performing again anytime soon.
"Britney is traumatized from touring," a source told Page Six.
"For so many years, she was given grueling tours and forced to perform concerts - even before her guardianship," he explained.
Britney Spears broke down in 2018, according to the source, when "her shows in Las Vegas were finally over, but then her team decided to turn them into an international tour" with more than 30 shows in the US and Europe.
“He desperately needed a break after four years in Las Vegas and he didn't get it. And then they had the audacity to close right after a second run of shows in Las Vegas," the source added.
Britney Spears' first show in Las Vegas, "Britney: Piece of Me," grossed $137.7 million from 248 shows from 2013 to 2017.
However, the singer's second act, titled 'Britney: Domination', never made it to the stage as her father, Jamie Spears, committed her to a mental health facility weeks before her scheduled 2019 start date .
Two years later, Britney Spears publicly stated in court that her father and her managers "should be in jail" for playing a "huge role in punishing" her when she "said no" to shows.
A Los Angeles judge ended the singer's guardianship in November 2021, giving Britney Spears control over her personal, medical and financial affairs for the first time in 13 years.
Since then, Britney Spears has signed a $15 million autobiography deal, married boyfriend Sam Asghari, and released the duet "Hold Me Closer" with Elton John, which became her first chart-topping song. Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 after almost a decade.
"She still loves dancing and music," the source told Page Six.
“He's been in discussions to record again and has had a lot of offers, some of which he's turned down, but it's all about timing and choosing the right projects. She's smart about it,” he continued.
"The beauty of Britney being free again is that she can make decisions for the first time in a long time, and she's going to do it at her own pace," the source said of Britney Spears' next steps.
