"He believes I was chosen to break generational curses that need to be healed."
Amid the negativity, Beyoncé brought some positivity into Meghan Markle's life.
In the second installment of Netflix's "Harry & Meghan," released Thursday, Dec. 15, the Duchess of Sussex receives a message from Beyoncé in March 2021, one day after the stormy interview she gave with her husband Prince Harry in Oprah Winfrey.
"Beyoncé just texted," says Meghan Markle, sitting next to Prince Harry in the office of their Montecito, California home.
"Just checking how you are doing," the message read, as the former actress smiled. “I still can't believe he knows who I am!” Markle said.
“Go call her,” Harry urged, though Meghan declined and summed up Beyoncé's message: “She wants me to feel safe and protected. He admires and respects my bravery and vulnerability and believes I was chosen to break generational curses that need to be healed,” she said.
Commenting on the singer's emotional message, Prince Harry replied: "She says it well."
After the interview with Oprah Winfrey, Beyoncé also used her website to express her support for Megan Markle, who then revealed how difficult her time in the royal spotlight has been.
"Thank you Meghan for your courage and leadership," Beyoncé captioned a photo of her meeting Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at the London premiere of "The Lion King" in summer 2019.
"We all draw strength and inspiration from you," Beyoncé added.
During the interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan Markle made a number of accusations against the royal family.
Among other things, she claimed that she had sought help from the Palace because of her suicidal thoughts and was kicked out, and that an unnamed member of the royal family had expressed concern to Harry about how dark the couple's first-born child's skin might be.
