Ariana Grande announces major changes to her pop career

Ariana Grande has dropped a bombshell, revealing her intention to slow down on releasing new music.

The 31-year-old pop star, who’s been delivering hit after hit since 2011 and has produced seven albums, beginning with *Yours Truly* in 2013, says fans should brace themselves for a decrease in her musical output. While she has averaged a new album every 18 months, Grande shared that this pace isn’t sustainable moving forward.

Speaking candidly on the *Las Culturistas* podcast, the *Yes, And?* singer said, "I’m going to say something scary—something that might shock my fans and everyone else. But I love them, and they’ll adapt, and we’ll still be here together."

"I’ll always create music, perform on stage, and make pop music—I pinky promise," she assured. "But I just don’t see myself continuing at the pace I’ve kept up over the past decade for the next 10 years."

Instead, Grande hinted at pursuing her love for musical theater. She’s set to hit the big screen later this year in the highly anticipated fantasy film *Wicked,* and may continue exploring similar roles.

“Reconnecting with my roots in musical theater, and expressing my love for comedy, is incredibly healing for me,” she said. “Finding roles that allow me to pour these parts of myself into characters, voices, and songs—it feels like where I need to be.”

Getting emotional, she added, “I’d love to take on roles that feel right for me, where I can honor the material and do it justice. I think this shift is a much healthier choice.”

*Wicked - Part 1* is set to premiere in theaters on Wednesday, November 22, 2024.
