The classic Aqua hit couldn't be missing from Barbie's summer.
Acclaimed dance-pop band Aqua from Denmark and legendary DJ and music producer Tiësto team up to release the first official remix of their iconic hit 'Barbie Girl'.
This is Aqua's first official remix of the iconic song, while audiences eagerly await Greta Gerwig's new Barbie movie starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.
The larger-than-life remake of 'Barbie Girl' was inspired by Tiësto's daughter, as father and daughter bonded over their love of the original song.
Aqua's "Barbie Girl" peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 when it was released in 1997 and has amassed over 9 billion streams worldwide and 1 billion views on YouTube with its music video.
Also, over 1 million videos on TikTok have used the sound of Aqua's 'Barbie Girl' garnering over 2.7 billion views.
Lately, the original version of "Barbie Girl" has seen an incredible rise, given the song's recent 25th anniversary and the release of the trailer for the upcoming movie "Barbie", during which the song's chorus is heard.
Tiësto's revamped version of the '90s hit will no doubt make listeners fall in love with 'Barbie Girl' all over again.
Aqua's Lene Nystrøm states: “In many ways, Tiësto and our journey are quite similar. We've both been around for quite some time and had to move in an ever-evolving music industry."
“I think the reason we're both still here today is because we've never strayed from what we originally set out to do: have fun, rock out and have fun with our fans like there's no tomorrow!” he continues.
Aqua's René Dif comments: “When Tiësto contacted us, I felt very honored and very lucky that he wanted to work with us. At the same time, I also thought: “Of course he would. We are the ideal combination!''
"After hearing what he did with the song, I can now say with certainty that I was 100% right," he says with a laugh.
Tiësto says: "'Barbie Girl' is one of the most iconic pop songs in history and I couldn't be more honored to put my own spin on it."
“My daughter absolutely loves this song, which inspired the remix and makes it even more special. I can't wait to see everyone going crazy on the dance floor to this song!” he adds.
