Apple Music introduces a new built-in karaoke feature

The new feature, called Apple Music Sing, will be available to all Apple Music subscribers worldwide later this month.

Apple Music users will soon be able to karaoke their favorite songs from within the app.

Apple has announced the launch of a built-in karaoke feature on its streaming service, which will be available to all Apple Music subscribers worldwide later this month.

Called Apple Music Sing, the feature will be accessible via iPhone, iPad and the latest Apple TV 4K model, with tens of millions of songs available at launch.

The new Apple TV box, now in its third generation, is equipped with the same processor as last year's iPhone 13 – a real extravagance for a player, one could argue – and has also incorporated support for HDR10 Plus format common to Samsung TVs, which have long lacked Dolby Vision.

The Siri Remote has also gained a USB-C port, a development that will inevitably follow for the iPhone as well.

Apple Music Sing resembles a typical karaoke player, displaying the lyrics of each song on the screen one by one.

Additional features include the option to adjust a song's vocal levels, separate background vocals from lead vocals to make lyrics easier to follow, and a "duet view" that displays lyrics on opposite sides of the screen to be easier karaoke on songs with multiple singers.

Along with the new feature, Apple Music will also introduce a series of more than 50 themed playlists for Apple Music Sing, which will group songs by genre, decade and more.

"Lyrics on Apple Music is consistently one of the most popular features of our service," said Oliver Schusser, vice president of Apple Music and Beats.

“We already know that our users around the world love to sing along to their favorite songs, so we wanted to evolve this service even further to enable even greater participation in music through song. It's really a lot of fun, our customers will love it,” he added.
