Sabrina Carpenter shares her reasons for retiring nonsense outros

Sabrina Carpenter has announced that she's officially retiring the unique outros from her hit single "Nonsense."

In 2022, the "Espresso" singer began a tradition of crafting new, often cheeky and innuendo-laden, lyrics for the outro at each live show. These playful performances garnered widespread attention, especially during her time supporting Taylor Swift on tour.

Fans were eagerly anticipating the continuation of this tradition on her Short n' Sweet Tour, but during the opening show in Ohio last month, they were surprised when she skipped the outro. Instead, Sabrina humorously pretended her microphone had malfunctioned, with a "technical difficulties" message displayed on a screen.

In a cover interview with *Time* magazine, the "Please Please Please" singer explained why she's decided to pause the outros indefinitely. “I’m not saying it’s gone forever. Maybe one day I’ll randomly bring it back,” she said. “But that was for *Emails I Can’t Send*, for that era. You have to let things end on a high note.”

Back in June, Sabrina hinted at the challenge of keeping the tradition alive during an interview with Capital FM at the Summertime Ball, admitting it was getting harder to come up with new material. "A couple of years ago, I made a spontaneous choice, and it completely changed my daily routine. But now, I’m running low on provocative jokes for every city."

She also revealed to *The Guardian* in August that she had written “literally 900 outros.” Sabrina's final custom outro took place at the Outside Lands festival in San Francisco, California, in August.
