P!nk: She Was Told Her Career 'Would Be Over' If She Had Kids

P!nk maintains that her career really took off when she had her own family.

P!nk's ninth album, 'Trustfall', is finally here, but the singer reveals she was once told she would never make it this far in her career if she had a family.

P!nk, who has 11-year-old Willow and 6-year-old Jameson with husband Carey Hart, recalled being told she would jeopardize her career if she started a family, but believes that in reality her path "started » after becoming a mother.

"Everyone was telling me, 'If you have kids now, your career is over,'" the 43-year-old singer recalled to Zane Lowe and Apple Music 1.

“But I think, it's quite interesting to me, that everybody has this idea about me that I'm just my singles, right? That I am the roaring, man-eating angry, like woman – man. Right?” he continued.

“And, obviously, we're all much more complicated than that, but when I was a kid, I think that softened me to the world, the part that didn't understand me. And I think that's when my career started," he asserted.

"What I mean is, I did a lot of things before that, but I really, truly, I think that's when I really started to understand myself and understand the world and my place in it," she explained.

P!nk also admitted that she felt "alone" only with music and stressed that raising a family was just as important to her as her music career.

“It was very important for me to have a family because my family life was a mess as a child and I am very loving, cuddly and funny. It wasn't enough for me to just make music. I was alone. I was very lonely. It's a very lonely job," he said.

“I really wanted to have a family and it was just as important to me as the ambitions because I didn't want to, if it's just… if that's the carrot, I've eaten it. I'm still hungry. I'm hungry,” he said.

"I'm free and I like to write songs. I like to sing songs. I love to sing songs," he noted.

"Sitting down with a guitar is one of my favorite things to do, but hugging my babies and taking them camping and being dirty for three days is also one of the coolest things I do and making wine happens to be pretty cool too,” P!nk added.
