Lizzo has had a big crush on Beyoncé since her Destiny's Child days, and the feelings seem to be mutual.
Lizzo couldn't hold back her tears when she got to attend Beyoncé's 'Renaissance' tour, which she has admired since she was a child, and saw her name on the big screen on stage.
In a video she posted to Instagram, Lizzo can be seen sobbing as she watches Beyoncé sing "Break My Soul (The Queens Remix)," in which she names her among 28 other iconic black women in music.
"At that moment I was thinking to myself baby, listening to 'Happy Face' by Destiny's Child and crying myself to sleep because of bullying," Lizzo captioned her post
"I was thinking of Beyoncé showing up in the room where Tina Turner was waiting to meet her for the first time," he continued.
“I think about what we all mean to people and how circular that is. We are all so infinitesimal and at the same time extremely connected and important. It is my honor. Thank you Beyoncé,” he added.
Lizzo has admitted many times that Beyoncé and Destiny's Child inspired her to become a singer.
The 35-year-old explained to the British edition of ELLE magazine last year how important the influence of the iconic girl group was on her life.
"Growing up in Houston, the impact that Destiny's Child had on my decision to become an artist was incredible, mostly because I felt like we were so close to it," he said.
"Everyone had their stories to tell: 'I saw Beyoncé when…' or 'I saw Destiny's Child at that party…'. And that made it seem more accessible. You thought, 'Oh, maybe I could do this too, if I worked hard enough and had the right people around me,'" he recalled.
Lizzo further commented on Beyoncé's mission with her music.
"It's not just releasing music for the sake of releasing music – there has to be something real," he noted.
"A teaching moment. Every time I listen to it, I think, “Man, I want to make people feel that way. How can I make people feel like that?'" Lizzo admitted.
