Little Mix made history

Little Mix made history by winning the award for Best British Band at the BRIT Awards 2021.

The trio of Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall became the first British female band in history to receive this award who during their speech took the opportunity to thank all the "incredible female bands", both from past and present.

"It simply came to our notice then. We have been together for 10 years. Those were the best years of our lives. We have been through so much. "We have had so much fun, we have created so many beautiful memories," they said.

"We want to start by thanking our incredible fans, of course Jesy (Nelson, who left the band in December) and our amazing team," they continued.

Soon after, Jade Thirlwall highlighted injustices and male dominance in the music industry.

"We have seen white male domination, sexism, misogyny and a lack of diversity. "We are proud of the way we stayed together, maintained our position and surrounded ourselves with strong women and now we use our voices more than ever."

"The fact that a women's band has never won this award says a lot, so this award is not just for us, it is for Spice Girls, Sugababes, All Saints, Girls Aloud, all incredible female bands. "This is for you!" He added.

It is worth mentioning that Little Mix was the only female group to claim the award for Best British Band at the BRIT Awards 2021. The third place went to Bicep, Biffy Clyro, The 1975 and Young T & Bugsey.

This is the third award that Little Mix has won at the BRIT Awards out of a total of ten nominations from 2016 to date.
