Kim Petras: 'People were very hard on Sam Smith'

"I learned a lot from Sam."

Kim Petras is 'very impressed' with the way Sam Smith has handled heavy criticism of their 'satanic' stage performances.

Sam Smith and Kim Petras caused a stir after their performance at the 2023 Grammy Awards earlier this year, where they sang their hit 'Unholy' in a hell-themed act.

And although Sam Smith was mocked, Kim Petras explained that the British singer is taking it all in stride and added that he has shown her how to deal with negativity.

"It was an incredible experience really, I had so much fun with Sam and I think together we felt really strong on stage and gave each other a lot of confidence," Kim Petras told Metro newspaper.

"I feel like I learned a lot from Sam about how to handle the media and people commenting on your appearance, your look, your body," she continued.

"People were very hard on Sam, but I was very impressed to see how he handled all of that and didn't let it get to him," he admitted.

"It's so hard sometimes, you see the comments or things in the media and you think, 'Oh my God, everyone hates me.' But give it a few hours, go out and breathe and let it pass," he noted.

Kim Petras, who has just released her new album 'Feed The Beast', would love to work with Sam Smith again if the right song is found and said she is a big fan of his duet with Madonna on 'Vulgar'.

“He's just a really really talented, gifted artist who really writes and cares about music. I love working with such artists," he said.

“I would love to work together again and whatever I do next has Sam involved. It has to be the right song," he said.

"This song came after a few years of us talking about working together and the song was just right," he added of "Unholy."

"It would be an honor and I would love to," added Kim Petras about the possibility of working with Sam Smith again.
