Justin Timberlake: Apologies to Britney Spears and Janet Jackson

Justin Timberlake apologizes publicly to Britney Spears and Janet Jackson.

The singer's apology follows the recent documentary "Framing Britney Spears" of the New York Times about the legal dispute over the Spears committee.

The documentary describes Justin Timberlake's role in destroying Britney Spears' public image after their much-discussed separation in the early 2000s.

Spears was humiliated by the media after the couple divorced. The documentary also featured an excerpt from a radio show from the time when Timberlake boasted about his relationship with the pop star.

"I have seen the messages, the reports, the comments and the concerns and I want to respond. I am very sorry for the moments in my life where my actions contributed to the problem, where I spoke in rotation or did not speak about what was right. "I understand that I did not respond adequately to these moments and many others and I benefited from a system that facilitates misogyny and racism," wrote Justin Timberlake.

"I specifically want to apologize to Britney Spears and Janet Jackson both separately, because I care about and respect these women and I know I failed."

"I also feel compelled to answer, in part, because everyone involved deserves better and most importantly, because this is a bigger debate and I wholeheartedly want to participate in it and evolve," he said.
Justin Timberlake has been widely criticized for his actions during his Super Bowl halftime appearance in 2004 with Janet Jackson. The singer tore a piece from Jackson's blouse and revealed her breasts in a live broadcast.

As a result of the incident, Janet Jackson's music videos were blacklisted by MTV, and her invitation to the Grammy Awards was revoked later that year. Timberlake attended the event and sang on the awards stage after first apologizing.

"The industry is flawed. It sets men up, especially whites, for success. It is designed this way. As a privileged man, I must speak openly about this. "Because of my ignorance, I did not acknowledge everything that happened in my life, but I never want to benefit from those who are humiliated again," Justin Timberlake said in a statement.

"I have not been able to cope with all of this throughout my career. I know that this apology is a first step and does not give remission of sins for the past. "I want to take responsibility for my mistakes in all of this, as well as to be part of a world that sets the mood and supports," he said.

"I am very interested in the well-being of the people I love and have loved. "I can do better and I will do better", the singer concluded.
