Harry Styles spoke about his audition to play Elvis Presley in Buzz Lurman's new biopic about the iconic singer.
The 28-year-old singer revealed on Howard Stern's show on SiriusXM earlier this week that he was trying to take on the role of king of rock ‘n’ roll, saying Elvis Presley's music is "incredibly sacred".
"Elvis," released in June, explores Presley's relationship with his manager, "Colonel" Tom Parker, over two decades and records his unique rise to the forefront.
Austin Butler plays the lead role, while Tom Hanks plays the long-time manager of Elvis.

Harry Styles told Stern: "Elvis was probably the first person I met outside of my family when I was a kid. For that reason, there was something incredibly sacred about him, so I thought I should try to get the role.
"I was very curious… I feel that if a director thinks I'm not the best person for the role, then it's better for him and better for me," he continued.
"If they think the movie will be better with someone else, then I do not want to do it because I do not want to be his not-so-good version," he said.
Harry Styles also revealed that during the audition he was asked to perform an iconic performance by Elvis Presley in Las Vegas. Styles added that he did not feel sad that Butler finally took the role.
Meanwhile, Harry Styles released his third album, "Harry's House", on May 20.
At the same time, he is fighting with the representative of the British participation in this year's Eurovision, Sam Ryder, for the number one single in the United Kingdom this week.
According to the official update of the UK chart in the middle of the week, Sam Ryder's "Space Man" closes the gap from the top of the chart and Styles' "As It Was", which seeks to remain for the sixth consecutive week in the first place.
