Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde open up about the 'toxic negativity' their relationship has faced

Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde discuss the backlash they've received for their relationship and how they deal with the negative comments.

The 28-year-old singer and 38-year-old actress met on the set of their upcoming movie Don't Worry Darling in September 2020 and made their first public appearance at a friend's wedding in January 2021.

Given Harry Styles' huge fan following, it's no surprise that their relationship has been the subject of much online discussion.

Harry Styles says in a new interview with Rolling Stone that he uses Instagram to look at plants and architecture posts, and reveals that he's never used TikTok.

When asked about trolls targeting those closest to him, he called Twitter "a shitstorm of people trying to be mean to others."

"That obviously doesn't make me feel good," he added.

Harry Styles has admitted that although he has drawn boundaries between his public and private life, sometimes "other people blur the lines for you".

The British pop star also explained that he is forced to warn his relationships about internet trolls.

"You can imagine, being on a second date with someone and going, 'Okay, there's this side of it and they're going to say this and it's going to be really crazy, and they're going to be really mean and it's not true... But anyway, what do you want to eat?", he characteristically described.

“It's obviously hard to feel like being around me means you're a corner of Twitter or something. I just wanted to sing. "I wouldn't want to be in the business of singing if there was a chance I could hurt people like that," Harry Styles noted.

Olivia Wilde was also asked about her experience with Harry Styles' fans, who she described as "people who love deeply".

"What I don't understand about the cruelty you refer to is that this toxic negativity is the antithesis of Harry and everything he puts out," he said.

"Personally, I don't think hate characterizes his fans. The majority of them are real advocates of kindness," added Olivia Wilde.
