The designer was partly inspired by the Italian character.
"The sun, a source of spectacular movements and tricks of light, dominates the stage and represents the Italian mentality: always in motion, revolutionary, creative, hospitable, passionate, intuitive. "We are the ones who have the sun inside us and that is the way we live in this world," he explained.
Francesca Montinaro took into account the comprehensive nature of the Eurovision Song Contest and the warm hospitality of the Italian people when she began the work of designing the stage.
"The waterfall that surrounds the scene, allegorically represents the sea that surrounds us, a symbol of our complex culture. "The stage is our peninsula: a country where every contestant is welcome, wherever he comes from," he said.
"The artists and their groups will be hosted in a lush Italian garden, where the vegetation is mixed with the rays of light, floating between reality and illusion, transporting them to a playful and architectural dimension," he said.
