Ed Sheeran paid tribute to the late Australian music industry legend Michael Gudinski during a memorial service held in Melbourne, Australia on Wednesday (24/03).
The event was hosted at the packed "Rod Laver Arena", which was filled with more than 7,000 spectators who had entered a mandatory two-week quarantine to attend the ceremony.
Ed Sheeran, who was also quarantined two weeks before his release, opened the short program with Michael Gudinski's favorite song from his personal discography, "Castle On The Hill", as well as "The A Team" .
The 30-year-old singer also shared moving stories about his first memories of Gudinski and the extent of their special relationship.
Ed Sheeran also performed a new song "Visiting Hours" for Michael Gudinski during the ceremony.
"I was able to quarantine my guitar and I always think the best way to work things out is to write songs, whether it's good news, bad news or whatever. "This is a song I finished last week," he said, with photos of him and Gudinski on the screen behind him.
Ed Sheeran could not bear the emotional charge and his voice bent as he sang.
