"Bad Habits" prepares the ground for Ed Sheeran's next plans.
Ed Sheeran has a lot to celebrate right now. The England national football team advanced to the semi-finals of Euro 2020 and their new song "Bad Habits" debuted at No. 1 in the United Kingdom.
"Bad Habits" recorded 92,000 sales in the last week, including 8.7 million streams, according to the British Official Charts Company (OCC), to give Ed Sheeran his tenth song to number one in the UK.
"I am flying in the clouds and I did not expect this beginning at all," the 30-year-old singer wrote on Instagram.
"I was away for so long that I know it will take some time to get back to normal, so I waited for this song to prepare the ground as the weeks went by, but its debut at such a high position from the first week is amazing and "something I do not take for granted after a decade in this industry."
Ed Sheeran is now the ninth name in history to have at least ten songs that have dominated No. 1 of the United Kingdom.
He currently equals Eminem and Calvin Harris (10), with Take That (12), Madonna (13), Cliff Richard and Westlife (14), the Beatles (17) and Elvis leading the list. Presley (21).
"Bad Habits" is the third single to debut at No. 1 in the United Kingdom this year after Olivia Rodrigo's "Drivers License" in January and Lil Nas X's "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)" in April.
"Thank you very much for giving me such a good start to this period. "More music is on the way, but for now I will open a beer and drink a lot to your health," concluded Ed Sheeran.
