Drake: He will be honored with the "Artist of the Decade" award

The top award seals Drake's sweeping course over the last decade.
Drake will be honored with the "Artist of the Decade" award at the upcoming Billboard Music Awards 2021.

Drake's award is a result of his dominance at the top of the Billboard chart for Top Artists of the 2010s.

The Top Artists Chart ranks artists from all genres of music based on their performance over the last decade on the Billboard Hot 100 (songs) chart and the Billboard 200 (album charts) as well as social media data and tour revenue as recorded on the Billboard Boxscore.

After appearing on the Billboard charts for the first time in 2009, Drake won nine No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in the 2010s, starting with his first album "Thank Me Later" in 2010, while the last time he was at the top was with the "Care Package" collection in 2019.

During this time Drake acquired six No. 1 in the Hot 100. Since his debut until today he has set numerous records in the charts, such as for the artist with the most songs (45) that have climbed to the Top 10 of the Hot 100 for the artist with the most songs (232) that have appear in the overall ranking of the Hot 100.


After winning 12 awards at last year's event, Drake became the artist with the most awards (27) in the history of the Billboard Music Awards.

Drake is also a nominee for this year's event in seven categories: Top Artist, Top Male Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Streaming Songs Artist, Top Rap Artist and Top Streaming Song with his collaboration with Future at « Life Is Good ».

Eminem was named Billboard Artist of the Decade for the 2000s and Mariah Carey for the 1990s.

The Billboard Music Awards 2021 will be held at the "Microsoft Theater" in Los Angeles on Sunday, May 23.
