The idol of pop and R&B music Janet Jackson will be the subject of a new documentary that will be shown on Lifetime and A&E.

The documentary titled "JANET" will consist of two parts lasting a total of four hours and is expected to be released in early 2022, the same year that will mark the 40th anniversary of the release of Jackson's first record.

The A + E Networks group, which owns the A&E, Lifetime and History Channel networks, among other things, promises a personal look at Janet Jackson's life and career through personal videos and interviews with celebrities.

The documentary is directed by Ben Hirsch.

According to "Variety", the creators of the documentary gained unlimited access to the life of the singer, as well as to exclusive archival material that has never seen the light of day again.
The shooting of "JANET" began three years ago, after the death of the singer's father, Joseph "Joe" Jackson, the patriarch of the Jackson dynasty, who oversaw the careers of his children, including The Jackson 5.

Produced by Janet Jackson and Randy Jackson in collaboration with Workerbee and Associated Entertainment Corporation.

The documentary will focus on the best moments of Janet Jackson's timeless career and will also look at her personal life, the death of her brother Michael Jackson in 2009 and the birth of her son in 2017.

In addition, the 54-year-old singer will talk about her much-discussed appearance with Justin Timberlake in the halftime of the Super Bowl in 2004.

Janet Jackson, the youngest member of the legendary family, released her first album in 1986 at the age of just 16. In 2015 she released her latest album to date, entitled "Unbreakable", while in 2019 she joined the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
