Adele is the highest-selling female album artist in the UK this century.
The 32-year-old singer finished in the first place of the relevant ranking of the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), leaving names like P! Nk, Madonna, Rihanna, Dido and Amy Winehouse, which is in the sixth place.
In the same vein, Adele's second album, "21", released in 2011, holds the title of album by the highest-selling female artist album in the UK in the 21st century (2000 - 2021).
"21" has sold over 6 million copies in the UK alone and over 31 million sales internationally, making it one of the most popular albums of all time.
The list of female artists who have recorded the highest album sales in the UK this century was released on the occasion of International Women's Day and the confirmed return of National Album Day on October 16, which will adopt the theme "Celebrating Women in Music "for 2021.

Geoff Taylor, CEO of BPI, and Kim Bayley, CEO of the Entertainment Retailers Association, the organizations behind National Album Day, said:
"We are excited that National Album Day is returning for the fourth time, emphasizing this year the huge contribution of women to music through the form of albums.
While the ways in which fans enjoy music are constantly evolving, the album remains important for artists to express themselves and for fans to understand what an artist has to say. "National Album Day is an opportunity for artists and fans to celebrate this much-loved work of art and to remind ourselves of the continuing power it has to tell stories, influence and inspire."
