ABBA will not return to the studio to complete their new songs that were left unfinished.
Benny Andersson has announced that ABBA will retire permanently from music after the release of their new album "Voyage".
The Swedish band, which disbanded in 1982, has been preparing for several years for the album and virtual music show to launch at a specially constructed theater in London in May 2022.
But in a recent interview with The Guardian, Benny Andersson stressed that two unfinished "Voyage" songs would remain unfinished and that ABBA would not return to the studio.
"That's all. It has to be done, you know. In fact, I did not say "this is it" in 1982. I never said that ABBA would never meet again. "But I can tell you now: This is it."
Benny Andersson added that this decision is not about personal issues between the band members, as they belong to the past.
"We saw each other all these years, we met for each other. We are friends. Björn and Agnetha have children and grandchildren together, so they need to talk to each other! "I'm friends with Frida, so there 's no problem."
In fact, Björn Ulvaeus noted that they were very happy to work together again.
"It was just fun, really, that we tried to see if we could do something." I think everyone was fully aware that if what we were going to do was not at the level we all wanted, we would just forget about it. "There was no pressure in that regard," he explained.
Benny Andersson explained that the original plan was to write only two songs for a project they later abandoned.
"If we had toured, we would have some new songs - everyone has. "Once we started I started thinking that maybe we could do a few more songs, work on things that have been around for a long time, without knowing what to do," he said.
