Rihanna: 'Grateful' for A$AP Rocky's acquittal in assault trial

The Decision That Brought Relief

Rihanna has expressed gratitude and relief following the acquittal of her partner, A$AP Rocky, in an armed assault trial.

On Tuesday, a Los Angeles court declared Rakim Mayers (A$AP Rocky's real name) not guilty on two counts of felony assault with a semi-automatic weapon. The charges stemmed from a 2021 incident in which the rapper was accused of shooting his former friend, A$AP Relli, during a confrontation.

Rihanna, who closely followed the trial, shared her joy on Instagram after the verdict was announced:

“Glory belongs to God and to God alone. GRATEFUL, HUMBLED BY HIS MERCY!”

Emotion in Court

Following the acquittal, the courtroom erupted in cheers and applause. Rocky embraced Rihanna, who was present in the audience, before hugging his lawyers and expressing his appreciation to the judicial panel:

“Thank you for saving my life. Thank you for making the right decision.”

A$AP Rocky's Reaction

Speaking to reporters outside the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center, the 36-year-old rapper reflected on the outcome:

“I really want to thank the jury for making the right decision. I feel incredibly grateful. This experience has been crazy for the past four years, but I feel blessed to be here, free, and able to talk to you.”

Rihanna, who has been in a relationship with Rocky since 2020, stood by his side throughout the trial, often bringing their two sons, RZA (2 years old) and Riot (18 months old), along with her.
