Celine Dion has shared a heartfelt tribute to her late husband, René Angélil, on the ninth anniversary of his death, reflecting on the enduring impact he continues to have on her life and their family.
An Emotional Instagram Post
In a touching Instagram post on Wednesday, the Canadian music icon expressed her love and longing for René, who passed away in January 2016 at the age of 73 after battling cancer.
"René, we can't believe you've been gone nine years already," Celine wrote.
"Not a day goes by that we don't feel your presence, RC, Eddy, Nelson, and I."
The post was accompanied by a family photo featuring Celine with her three sons: René-Charles, 23, and 14-year-old twins Eddy and Nelson.
She continued, "You were my greatest champion, my partner, and the one who always saw the best in me. I honor you, and you are forever missed, mon amour. We love you."
René Angélil’s Battle with Cancer
René, who was both Celine’s husband and manager, had a long battle with throat cancer. Initially diagnosed in 1998, he made a full recovery the following year, only for the cancer to return in 2013. Despite undergoing surgery to remove a tumor, the cancer reemerged in 2014, and he passed away in January 2016.
Celine and René were married for 22 years, having tied the knot in 1994 in a grand ceremony that captured headlines worldwide.
Recent Tributes
This anniversary tribute comes just weeks after Celine commemorated what would have been her and René's 30th wedding anniversary in December 2024.
At the time, the singer of "My Heart Will Go On" and "It's All Coming Back to Me Now" shared another emotional message:
"You still fill our hearts, every day. You are everything for us. We miss you so much. Happy 30th anniversary, mon amour!"
A Legacy of Love
Through her poignant words and ongoing tributes, Celine Dion continues to celebrate René’s legacy, demonstrating the profound love and partnership they shared. As she moves forward with her family, René’s influence and memory remain deeply woven into her life and career.
