Kanye West has shared his experience of participating in his upcoming documentary, *In Whose Name?*
The documentary, directed by 18-year-old Nico Ballesteros, was filmed with “an iPhone” and backed by what Kanye described as a “billion-dollar budget.” Nico recently shared a glimpse of the project’s emotional depth by posting a text exchange with Kanye on Instagram. “The doc was very deep,” Kanye, 47, wrote to Nico. “It was like being dead and looking back on my life.” Nico replied, “This is the most profound text message I have ever received. I love you, brother.”
Produced by Goodfellas and Utopia, the documentary is expected to premiere in 2025.
A press release describes the film as a “six-year journey” that offers an unfiltered look into Kanye’s life, touching on the controversial opinions, grand visions, and strong views that have shaped his public persona. The film will explore Kanye’s rise to become the richest Black man in American history and examine the reasons behind the risks he has taken for his artistic and personal freedom.
Alongside the documentary, Kanye is also working on his 11th studio album, *Bully,* which is anticipated for release sometime next year.
