Sean 'Diddy' Combs' legal team has requested a federal judge in Manhattan to reveal the identities of the accusers in his ongoing sex trafficking case.
On Tuesday, Combs' lawyers submitted a letter arguing that they need to know the names of the alleged victims to prepare for his trial, set for May 2025. The letter stated that the case is "unique" due to the number of accusations being made against the rapper, largely because of his "celebrity status, wealth, and the publicity" surrounding his prior lawsuit settlement and grand jury leaks. The legal team claims that this has caused "a torrent of allegations" from anonymous complainants, many of which they say range from "false to outright absurd."
This request came just a day after four men and two women filed lawsuits against the 54-year-old musician, accusing him of sexual assault and rape.
Combs' lawyers have dismissed these new accusations as part of an "outrageous and deeply prejudicial" publicity stunt. They argue that these allegations, like earlier ones, are damaging his reputation, despite some of them already being discredited. "These swirling allegations have created a hysterical media circus that, if left unchecked, will irreparably deprive Mr. Combs of a fair trial," the letter states.
Combs' legal troubles began in November 2023 when his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, sued him for rape and abuse. Although that lawsuit was settled the following day, it sparked a series of sexual assault claims against him. The rapper was arrested in September on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering and is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in New York.
